Dedicated STEM Planning: Formal structure with dedicated STEM planning and collaboration time for all STEM educators weekly to plan integrated lessons, share/co-create STEM activities, and plan learning outcomes.
The STEM & Technology CCC team meets monthly. This team has members from each grade level as well as Target, STEM, and Technology. Planning for the school STEM days and STEM lesson integration takes place in these meetings. Team members will then share the ideas during their grade level CCC meetings which are held weekly. This team also plans STEM school challenges, Launchapalooza, Balloons Over MVES, and other STEM-related events. They are connected to the Garden committee and Recycling committee.
The STEM CCC has offered two STEM Certification Process meetings, provided resources to all teachers for the certification process, and training on the 4C's. The team has also provided sample questions for each level on the Engineering Design Process.
Grade level CCC's meet weekly and talk about grade level STEM lessons and implementation of overall units of study. They also collaborate to create the PBL chart and the rubrics for students to self-assess.
There is a Science CCC and Mathematics CCC which meet at least once a month regarding science and math topics as well as the implementation of standards and connectivity to STEM.
